Privacy Policy

LaunchPilot ("we", "us", "our") is a distribution planning tool for indie founders and product builders. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use LaunchPilot, how we use it, and what choices you have.

We built LaunchPilot to help founders launch without guesswork — and we apply that same directness to our privacy practices. No jargon, no vague promises. Just a plain explanation of how your data works.

We collect information in three ways: things you give us directly, things we collect automatically, and things we receive from third parties.

What you give us directly

• Account information — your name and email address when you sign up
• Product information — the product description, target audience, and category you enter into the intake form
• Payment information — processed by Polar; we never see or store your card details
• Communications — emails or messages you send us for support

What we collect automatically

• Usage data — which sections of your plan you view, which posts you generate, which slots you mark done
• Device and browser data — browser type, operating system, screen resolution
• IP address — used for abuse prevention and rough geolocation (country level only)
• Session data — how long you use the app, what pages you visit

What we receive from third parties

• OAuth profile data — if you sign in with Google, we receive your name and email from Google
• Payment events — Polar sends us confirmation of successful payments and subscription status

We use your information to operate and improve LaunchPilot. Specifically:

• Generate your 7-day distribution plan and community matches
• Generate post copy tailored to your product and chosen communities
• Cache your brand analysis so repeat generations are fast and consistent
• Send you daily email nudges reminding you to post (opt-out anytime in settings)
• Provide customer support when you contact us
• Detect and prevent abuse, fraud, and spam
• Understand which features are used and which need improvement
• Comply with legal obligations

We use Anthropic's Claude API to generate your plan and post copy. Your product description is sent to Anthropic's API as part of this process. Anthropic's API data handling is governed by Anthropic's Privacy Policy.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share data only in the following limited circumstances:

• Service providers — third-party tools that help us operate (listed below). They are contractually bound to use data only as instructed.
• Legal requirements — if required by law, court order, or to protect the rights and safety of our users or others.
• Business transfers — if LaunchPilot is acquired or merged, your data may transfer as part of that transaction. We'll notify you before this happens.

Third-party services we use

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. Specifically:

• Account data — retained until you delete your account
• Launch plans and generated copy — retained until you delete them or your account
• Usage logs — aggregated after 90 days, raw logs deleted after 12 months
• Email logs — retained for 30 days for deliverability debugging
• Payment records — retained for 7 years as required by financial regulations

When you delete your account, we delete your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

Depending on where you are located, you may have the following rights:

• Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
• Correction — ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data
• Deletion — ask us to delete your account and personal data
• Portability — receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format
• Objection — object to processing based on legitimate interests
• Restriction — ask us to restrict how we process your data
• Withdraw consent — opt out of email reminders at any time in Settings → Notifications

We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you logged in, remember your preferences, and understand how you use the product. See our Cookie Policy for the full breakdown.

We do not use tracking pixels, third-party ad networks, or cross-site tracking. Our analytics are product-focused — we want to know which features are used, not who you are.

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including:

• Encryption in transit (TLS 1.2+) and at rest (AES-256)
• Access controls — only core team members can access production data
• No storage of payment card details (handled by Polar)
• Regular dependency updates and security reviews

No system is perfectly secure. If you discover a security vulnerability, please email us at security@launchpilot.app — we take reports seriously and respond quickly.

LaunchPilot is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 16. If you believe we have accidentally collected data from a minor, contact us immediately and we will delete it.

We may update this policy as the product evolves. When we make material changes, we'll notify you by email at least 14 days before the changes take effect. Minor clarifications (fixing typos, adding examples) may be made without notice.

Continuing to use LaunchPilot after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
